This policy covers the website herapress.com, including its documentation. Hera Backup, and its account service at app.herapress.com, have a privacy policy of their own.

What we record

Only what a web server needs in order to deliver a page. When you open a page, our server records the request in its access log: your IP address, the date and time, the address of the page, the page you came from, and the name and version of your browser. We use these logs to keep the site running and to look into misuse, and they are deleted after a short time. The server is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH.

Statistics, only with your consent

We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are read. It runs only if you accept statistics in the consent banner that appears on your first visit. Until you choose, and if you decline, nothing is loaded from Google and no statistics cookie is set.

If you accept, your browser loads Google’s analytics script, and two cookies are stored: _ga, which tells visitors apart, and one whose name starts with _ga_, which keeps track of a visit. Google sets them to last two years, and some browsers delete them sooner. Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. Google’s use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in Google’s privacy policy.

Your choice

The consent banner remembers your answer in cookies whose names start with cmplz_, for one year, so that it does not ask on every page. You can change your answer at any time:

What we do not do

  • We set no other cookies when you visit. Signing in to the site’s administration sets WordPress’s own sign-in cookies, for the people who run the site.
  • We use no advertising and no tracking for advertising.
  • Apart from Google Analytics once you accept it, and a video once you click play, pages load nothing from other companies: the typefaces and icons are served from this site.

Light and dark mode

The light and dark switch remembers your choice in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Videos

A product page can offer an introduction video hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you click play. When you do, the video plays from youtube-nocookie.com, and Google’s privacy policy applies to it.

When you write to us

If you email us, we use your message and your address to answer you, and keep the conversation for as long as we need it to deal with your request.

Our plugins

Our plugins run on your own site. The WooCommerce plugins on this site make no connection to us or to any other service; each one’s documentation says what it keeps on your site. Hera Backup’s optional account features are covered by Hera Backup’s own privacy policy.

Links to other sites

Pages here link to WordPress.org, to app.herapress.com and to other sites. Once you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to the contact address above. You can withdraw your consent to statistics at any time, with the settings above or the Manage consent tab at the edge of the page. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
