How emails are sent
The plugin has no mail settings of its own: it sends through WooCommerce, the same way your store’s order emails go out. This article explains what that means for the sender, the recipient and your SMTP setup.
The same route as your store’s emails
Every email is handed to WooCommerce’s mailer, which passes it to WordPress’s own mail function. Whatever handles mail on your site already, such as an SMTP plugin like WP Mail SMTP or your host’s mail server, also handles these emails. There is nothing to set up in this plugin.
Recipient and sender
| Part | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| To | The billing email address on the order. Each email goes to that one address, with no copies to anyone else. |
| From name and address | “From” name and “From” address under WooCommerce → Settings → Emails, in Email sender options. |
| Design | Your WooCommerce email design, for HTML and Multipart (HTML + plain text) templates. See Choosing the email type. |
Some SMTP plugins can force a different sender address. If the From address in a received email is not the one set in WooCommerce, check your SMTP plugin’s settings.
Language
Emails are written in your site language, set under Settings → General, as WooCommerce does for the emails it sends to customers, even when your own wp-admin profile uses another language. This covers the values of tags such as {order_status} and {order_date} and the text of the WooCommerce email design. The words of your template are sent as you wrote them.
Replies
The emails don’t set a separate reply address, so a customer’s reply goes to the From address. Newer WooCommerce versions have an Add “Reply-to” email option under Email sender options. It applies to WooCommerce’s own emails, not to the ones this plugin sends.
Only when someone sends one
The plugin never sends anything by itself. There is no schedule and no trigger on order status changes: each email goes out because a member of your staff chose a template and clicked Send Email or Apply. It is meant for messages about a specific order, not for newsletters or marketing.
