Installing Hera Japan Postcode Autofill

This article walks you through installing and activating Hera Japan Postcode Autofill for WooCommerce, and what changes once it is active.

Requirements

Software Version
WordPress 6.5 or later
WooCommerce 8.0 or later, installed and active
PHP 7.4 or later

Install from your WordPress dashboard

  1. Go to Plugins → Add Plugin.
Older WordPress versions call this menu item Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for “Hera Japan Postcode Autofill”.
  3. Click Install Now on the plugin, then Activate.
While WooCommerce is not installed, Install Now is grayed out, and while it is not active, Activate is. Install and activate WooCommerce first.

Install from a zip file

  1. Download the zip file from the plugin’s page on WordPress.org.
  2. Go to Plugins → Add Plugin and click Upload Plugin at the top of the screen.
  3. Choose the zip file and click Install Now.
  4. Click Activate Plugin.

If WooCommerce is not active

The plugin needs WooCommerce, so WordPress does not let you activate it until WooCommerce is installed and active. Install and activate WooCommerce first, then come back to this plugin. For the same reason, WordPress does not let you deactivate WooCommerce while this plugin is active.

If WooCommerce stops running anyway, for example because its folder was deleted, the plugin does nothing and shows this notice to users who manage plugins until WooCommerce is active again: “Hera Japan Postcode Autofill for WooCommerce requires WooCommerce to be installed and active.”

After activation

There is nothing to set up. The plugin adds no menu and no settings screen. From now on, when a customer chooses Japan as the country of an address and types its postcode, the prefecture, city and address are filled in.

The Plugins screen with Hera Japan Postcode Autofill for WooCommerce active, showing its description, version 1.0.0 and the author HeraPress.

Next, see how the address is filled in.
