Attaching a file to a template
A template can carry one file, such as a warranty card, a returns form or a user guide, and every email sent from it includes that file. This article shows how to add, change and remove it.
Add a file
- Open the template, and in the Email Content box click Attachment on the left.
- Click Choose File. The WordPress media window opens.
- Upload the file, or pick one that is already in your Media Library, then click Select.
- The file name appears next to the button. Save the template to keep the change: click Update if it is published, or Save Draft or Publish if it is a draft.
Any file your Media Library accepts can be attached, such as a PDF. A template holds one file at a time; choosing another one replaces it.

Remove the file
Click Remove next to the file name, then save the template. The file stays in your Media Library, so you can still use it elsewhere.
Where the file goes
The file is attached to every email sent from the template: single sends, bulk sends and the test emails you send yourself.
If the file is deleted from the Media Library later, the template can no longer be sent, and sending shows “This template’s attached file could not be found. Please re-select the attachment on the template.” Choose the file again, or remove the attachment, and save.
Warning: Anyone who has the address of a file in your Media Library can open it. Only attach files that every recipient of the template may see, never a document meant for one customer.
Note: Mail servers limit the size of a message, and large attachments are a common reason emails don’t arrive. Keep attached files small, a few megabytes at most.
