Installing Hera Site Monitor

This article shows how to install and activate Hera Site Monitor, and what happens to its data when you deactivate or delete it.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.5 or later.
  • PHP 7.4 or later.
  • WooCommerce is not required.

From the WordPress dashboard

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for “Hera Site Monitor”.
  2. Click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Open Site Monitor in the admin menu.

From a zip file

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin.
  2. Choose the hera-site-monitor zip file and click Install Now.
  3. Click Activate Plugin.

Installing and activating the plugin sends nothing to any other site. Everything it records stays in your own database. About 2 minutes after activation, the plugin checks your home page for the first time, and the cart page of a WooCommerce store; the Site Monitor screen shows the results.

Deactivating and deleting

Deactivating the plugin keeps the problems it has recorded and its settings, so they are still there if you activate it again. A site connected to HeraPress stays connected, and its contact with HeraPress pauses until you activate the plugin again.

Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen removes everything it stored: its database table, its settings, its scheduled tasks and, if you turned on Catch errors earlier, the file it copied into wp-content/mu-plugins. A site connected to HeraPress also tells HeraPress that it leaves. On a multisite network this happens on every site.
